Press Release: IPI's Charlotte Beyer Announced as Top Woman in Wealth by Advisor One

Charlotte Beyer, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Institute

for Private Investors (IPI), has been named as one of the 3rd Annual 50 Top Women in Wealth by AdvisorOne, the leading online destination for independent advisors, wealth managers and financial planners. The annual list recognizes the 50 most influential, powerful and inspiring women in and around wealth management. An advisory board of noted industry leaders chose the 50 Top Women in Wealth after an extensive process, making their final choices based on the Top 50 Women’s accomplishments, thought leadership and inspiration as role models. The exceptional leaders on this list are responsible for managing and directing hundreds of billions of dollars of wealth, for educating and guiding wealth managers and their clients – both individuals and institutions – and regulating the markets and market participants. After spending 20 years on Wall Street, Beyer was a pioneer in the private wealth management industry when, in 1991, she formed the Institute for Private Investors (IPI), the first membership group for private investors, with the goal to create a more informed consumer of financial services. IPI’s primary focus remains a private membership organization offering independent investor education and an online community for 1,100 ultra high net worth investors representing 17 countries and 40 states in the U.S. Beyer led IPI to become an early-adopter in the social media space, launching in 1998 the first social media site for ultra-high net worth investors. She also established a partnership with the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1999 to create the first-ever private wealth management curriculum in the country. In February 2011, IPI was acquired by Campden Media, forming the largest global network of ultra-high net worth families.

“These 50 women are accomplished entrepreneurs, thought leaders, money managers, personal wealth managers of all kinds and partners to those wealth managers. Their accomplishments transcend their gender, while their gender helps inform their personal values to their clients and customers,” said James J. Green, editor of“Being recognized by AdvisorOne as one of the most influential women in wealth management for the second time is a great honor, and I am thrilled to be included among this esteemed group of women,” Beyer said. “The timing of IPI’s formation coincided with the transformation of the investor-advisor relationship. I am proud that IPI’s membership has been part of that revolution..”

Beyer has received numerous industry honors and awards, including AdvisorOne’s inaugural 50 Top Women in Wealth list in 2009. She was also the third recipient, and first woman, honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at Institutional Investor’s annual High-Net-Worth Industry Awards in 2007.

A graduate of Hunter College, Beyer also attended the University of Pennsylvania and the Stern/NYU Graduate School of Business Administration. She is immediate Past President of the Board of Trustees of the Westover School, an all-girls school in Middlebury, Connecticut. She serves on the Board of Trustees of the Museum of American Finance, publishes in various trade journals and is on the Advisory Board of Institutional Investor’s

Journal of Wealth Management.

The 50 Top Women will be profiled throughout the month of July on and in the August issues of Investment Advisor and Research magazines, which comprise the Investment Advisor Group of print and online publications at Summit Business Media.
